Directions:
The
Judicial Center is located north across the street from the historic
Courthouse. The entrance is on the east side of the building on 3rd
Street. Circuit Court is on the third floor of the Judicial Center.
History:
The Warrick County Circuit Court was established in 1816 with the
signing of the Indiana Constitution, which directed the General Assembly
to divide the State into judicial circuits, and provided that a Circuit
Court would be established in each circuit. Eighty-eight of a total of
92 counties constitute 88 circuits, while the remaining four counties
are in two “joint” circuits with two counties each. The jurisdiction of
the Warrick Circuit Court includes civil, criminal, juvenile and probate
matters.
The
Circuit Court staff consists of the elected Judge, David O. Kelley, two
Guardian ad Litems, one Court Appointed Special Advocate program
director, one Bailiff, two Court Reporters, and one part-time office
assistant. The Circuit Court Probation Department staff consists of one
Adult Probation Officer, one Juvenile Probation Officer, one Court
Reporter, and one part-time office assistant.
