Standard Fines for Traffic Violations

The Infraction Division processes all infraction cases for Superior Court No. 1.  You may call this Division:
    1. To find out the standard fines and costs for civil infractions, for example - speeding, seatbelt, driving while suspended, disregarding a yield sign, etc.
    2.  Where to send your payment for infractions
    3.  For information about your Court date on infraction cases

Although the Court has the authority to set your fine within statutory guidelines, the following are the standard fines.  Fines are assessed at $10.00 per point.  EXAMPLE:  Disregarding a stop sign is a 4 point violation.  The fine would be $40.00 + costs.

MC Learner Permit Violation 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Improper MC License Endorsement 6 point violation $60.00 fine + $119.50 = $179.50
Viol of DL Restriction 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Driving While Suspended 8 point violation $80.00 fine + $119.50 = $199.50
No financial responsibility 8 point violation $80.00 fine + $119.50 = $199.50
Disregard Traffic Control Device 6 point violation $60.00 fine + $119.50 = $179.50
Fail to dim lights 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Driving Left of Center 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Improper pass on left 6 point violation $60.00 fine + $119.50 = $179.50
Improper pass on right 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Pass in no passing zone 4 Point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50

Fail to Yield to Emergency Vehicle 8 point violation $80.00 fine + $119.50 = $199.50

Improper pass School Bus 8 point violation $80.00 fine + $119.50 = $199.50

Violation of probationary license 8 point violation $80.00 fine + $119.50 = $199.50

Improper U-turn 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Disregarding signs & markings 6 point violation $60.00 fine + $119.50 = $179.50
Improper turn at intersection 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Speeding 1 -15 over 2 point violation $20.00 fine + $119.50 = $139.50
Speeding 16 -25 over 4 point violation $40.00 fine + $119.50 = $159.50
Speeding 26 over 6 point violation $60.00 fine + $119.50 = $179.50

Seat belt violation    $25.00
Child Restraint        $25.00

If the offense is not on this list, the fine should be $10.00 plus the Court costs of $119.50.

If you wish to admit to the ticket, you can mail the amount.

Clerk does not accept personal checks. Money Order Certified or Cashier’s Check made payable to the Warrick County Clerk.

Address is Warrick County Clerk, One County Square, Suite 200, Boonville, IN 47601.  Please include the ticket or a copy of the ticket with your payment.

If the fine and costs are paid before that Court date, located at the bottom of your ticket, you need not appear.  Please wait at least two weeks before mailing your payment to allow the ticket to be entered into the system.

If your violation is not listed, please call (812) 897-6160 (Traffic Clerk) for the amount.

IF YOU WISH TO DENY THE TICKET.  You need to appear on the date the Office put at the bottom of the ticket.  At that time, the Court will set a trial date.

IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR OR PAY ON OR BEFORE YOUR COURT DATE, YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR FAILURE TO PAY.

COMMERCIAL TRUCK VIOLATIONS:

Equipment Violations    $10.00 fine plus costs of $119.50 = $129.50

Fuel Tax Permit Violation $25.00 fine plus costs of $119.50 = $144.50

Log book violation $10.00 fine plus costs of $119.50 = $129.50

Overweight by:
1,000 - 2,000 $0.02 per lb. plus costs of $119.50
2,001 - 3,000 $0.04 per lb. plus costs of $119.50
3,001 - 4,000 $0.06 per lb. plus costs of $119.50
4,001 - 5,000 $0.08 per lb. plus costs of $119.50
Over 5,000 $0.10 per lb. plus costs of $119.50
